Obituary for Milton Raymond Sharpe

Milton Raymond Sharpe
On August 9, 2018, with his family by his side, the gates of Heaven opened to welcome Milton Raymond Sharpe with a stamp of approval. Loving husband and soul mate of Dorothy (Trudeau) for 60 years. Father of George (Jane), Patti Sharpe-Hindermeier, (Neil), & Lee Ann Marcoux (Bill). Loving Papa to Jennifer & Mike, Chris, Allison, Zebadiaha, Jacob & Lee, B.J, Mac & Chelsea, and Avery. Great Papa to Sky Lynn, Emily, Eva, Damon and Isabella. Special friend to Broderick Rendell and Brian and Kathy Ross. Honorary new Papa to Shane and Ellen. Saving the best for last, as he would always say, Milton was born March 27, 1936 to Susan (Martin) & George Sharpe. Baby brother to Grace McBride (Charlie), Gene McQueen (Bill), Viola Rossi (Enzo), Dorothy Redick (Charles), Norman Sharpe (Pat), Florence McLean (Vern) Emily Elliott (Ron), Ada Hermiston (Ralph), Eunice Bourgond (Al). Son-law to Ernie and Loretta Trudeau. Brother-in-law to Joyce Wilson (Tom), Don Trudeau (Kay,Brenda) Ernie Trudeau (Marion), Betty Seed (John), Deanna Van Midde (Gordon), Gary Trudeau (Trudy). Special brother from another mother, to Joe Orlando (Annie). Favourite Uncle of many nieces and nephews. Milt (aka Red), and his partner Joe, were the proud owners of Parkway Service Station on the corner of Korah Road and Second Line from 1958 to 1986. Milt was known for his kindness and generosity and gifted many with help when in need. Milt always joked he had a free pass to heaven for the years he spent stoking the furnace when he was young and ploughing the driveway when he was older at Maxwell United Church every Sunday morning before services started. Milt was a known prankster who loved to play practical jokes on his friends, family and co-workers. Water fights and scaring people were his favourite past times. He loved country music and spent many a night playing back up on his harmonica. He was an avid hunter who enjoyed his time at his hunt camp in Waboose with his family. He was a great teacher who inspired his kids, nephews and grandkids to love and respect the outdoors. Many hours were also spent in the ice shack at Haviland Bay trying to catch the big one! Milt was a great mentor and best friend to his son, George. He loved to dance and taught his girls how to polka and two step while standing on his shoes. He also made sure that his girls knew how to swing a hammer, change a tire and be self-sufficient. He may have even shared some of that knowledge with his son in laws. Milt shared an extra special bond with his son-in-law Bill. As the Mayor of Sunset Blvd. in Haviland Bay, Milt enjoyed many good times with his neighbors. He was always up for game of golf, bocce or pass- the- ace with Milo, Jack, Brian, George, Karl, Al and their wives. He was also the stand-up comedian of Pauquette Lake who wasn’t afraid to take your money in a good game of crib, horseshoes, Joe’s game or washer toss. To know Milt was to love Milt. No matter where he was, he could light up a room with his infectious smile and laugh. He was kind, caring and compassionate to all and will be truly missed. On behalf of Milt, his family would like to acknowledge the excellent care that he received from the staff on the 3rd floor, Birch Lane, at the Davey Home during the past 5 months. Milt always appreciated that you took the time to serve his beets with his meals. We further would like to acknowledge the excellent care provided by Nursing Staff of 3A & 3C at Sault Area Hospital over the past week. Extra special thanks to Dr. Luke Fera, Monique Kevil, Elsie Ivic, 3C Nurses Kate, Taylor, Courtney, Elliott and Ben for your extraordinary care and compassion. Respecting Milt’s wishes, a private service has taken place with Milt’s family. Friends and Family are invited to partake in Milt’s Celebration of Life on Friday August 17, 2018 from 4 – 8 pm at the Hindermeier House, 1376 Airport Road, Sault Ste. Marie.
